Dr. Chelsey Green Makes
History As First Black Woman and Youngest
Person Elected Chair of the
Recording Academy® Board of Trustees
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Acclaimed artist, educator, and cultural leader Dr. Chelsey Green has made history as the first Black woman and youngest person ever elected to serve as Chair of the Board of Trustees for the Recording Academy®, marking two historic milestones in the organization’s 68-year history.
A Billboard-charting recording artist and Associate Professor at Berklee College of Music, Dr. Green is celebrated for her powerful fusion of classical training and contemporary sound. As the bandleader, violinist, violist, and vocalist behind her ensemble Chelsey Green and The Green Project, she blends jazz, R&B, soul, and funk, releasing five acclaimed studio projects—one of which landed on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz chart. Her genre-bending artistry recently earned her a No. 1 Billboard single as a featured artist with pianist and producer Nathan Mitchell, further cementing her place as a visionary architect of contemporary music and culture.
Dr. Green has performed alongside music legends such as Stevie Wonder, Lizzo, Samara Joy, Kirk Franklin, The War and Treaty, and Wu-Tang Clan, and has made orchestral debuts with the National Symphony Orchestra, Alexandria Symphony, and the United States Air Force Band. A passionate advocate for music education and equity, she frequently leads educational concerts, artist residencies, and community workshops around the world. In April 2025, Dr. Green became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, aligning her life’s work with the Sorority’s legacy of sisterhood, scholarship, service and social action.
“I am deeply honored to serve at this moment in the Academy’s history,” said Dr. Green. “Music is how culture moves, breathes, and remembers. Being elected to this role is a call to lead with integrity, to advocate for access, and to innovate boldly on behalf of the music creators who keep music alive.
In addition to Dr. Green’s historic election, the Recording Academy® has named its full National Officer slate and 19 new Trustees to the 2025–2027 Board of Trustees, following this year’s annual Board of Trustees meeting. Effective June 1, the following leaders have been elected:
- Dr. Chelsey Green, Chair of the Board of Trustees
- Evan Bogart, Vice Chair
- Jennifer Blakeman, Secretary/Treasurer
- Tammy Hurt, Chair Emeritus
These appointments reflect the Academy’s commitment to diverse leadership and to advancing a more inclusive future for the music industry. The full list of the Recording Academy’s 2025–2027 Board of Trustees, can be found at RecordingAcademy.com.

"Satan, Get Thee Behind Me"
A Riveting Documentary from Christian Slay Films
Unveiling the Connection
Between Mental Illness and Demonic Oppression
INDIANAPOLIS, June 4, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Executive Producer Travis Peagler, award-winning filmmaker Mike Harris, and producer Marcus Mizelle present Satan, Get Thee Behind Me, a gripping, emotionally raw documentary that delves into the chilling intersection of mental illness and demonic possession.
At the heart of the film is Travis Peagler, the youngest of seven siblings, who has spent decades confronting unseen forces. Witnessing the torment of his former Marine father and troubled older sister, Travis himself faced a harrowing, life-threatening encounter with an elite demonic entity—an experience unlike anything publicly documented. This terrifying event unfolded at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, within one of its old barracks, adding a chilling historical dimension to his battle. Fully awake and fully aware, he fought against an overwhelming darkness that tested the limits of his physical endurance, psychological resilience, and, most of all, his faith in God.
The torment didn't start with Travis. His siblings also bore witness to supernatural occurrences, including the chilling possession of his older sister, Kela. As the Peagler family unravels decades of trauma and inexplicable phenomena, Satan Get Thee Behind Me challenges audiences to pull back the veil and ask: What's hiding behind the spiritual curtain?
Through personal testimony, expert analysis, and an unfiltered exploration of trauma, this film forces viewers to rethink the boundaries between psychological affliction and spiritual interference.
With its captivating narrative and cinematic depth, Satan Get Thee Behind Me is gearing up for festival submissions, with an exclusive private screening planned for August 16th, 2025, at The Living Room Theaters in Indianapolis, IN.
